Are you a great teacher who is committed to professional growth, team work, innovation and improvement?

Nannup District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of hardworking and dedicated primary teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 and 2021 school years.

Nannup DHS is an innovative learning community, committed to excellence. We have strong relationships with our community, but are always seeking to strengthen these further. Our focus is on developing resilient, respectful learners. We welcome forward thinkers who are committed to supporting and driving school improvement, and who understand that they will work continuously with their peers to develop their skills. We seek teachers who will participate wholeheartedly in our school’s drive to provide the best possible education for Nannup’s children.

We are committed to developing our students’ academic skills, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy, and have excellent Music and Arts programs at the school. We are keen to build on our delivery of digital technologies, science, LOTE (Indonesian) and physical education. We are always looking for ways to be innovative, and our community values those who value sustainability, diversity, inclusivity, and care.

Successful applicants will be flexible and effective classroom practitioners who can demonstrate and lead high quality teaching, primarily in the primary school, but across Kindergarten to Year 10 where required. They will be committed to whole school approaches and collaborative team structures. They will need to exhibit that they are highly effective at building productive relationships with students, especially those who require additional support with learning or behaviour, and will be able to show that they are great at building and maintaining relationships with families.

Successful applicants will be comfortable with the expectation that their practices will support the school’s business plan and Department of Education priorities. An understanding of the cognitive science that underpins effective instruction, familiarity with pedagogies that strengthen play-based learning, and experience in effectively using explicit  instruction pedagogies, are all essential. Enthusiasm and aptitude for using digital technologies to create and strengthen learning resources and communicate with colleagues and families is highly desirable.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. Applicants may be appointed to a vacancy based on the qualification being completed via the Leap program.

The Department is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people with disability, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and persons from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
