00034840
Teacher, $71,137 - $106,049 per annum (SEA GA 2019)

Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH647215

This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021

Broome North Primary School (PS) is seeking a highly skilled, dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Music to join our friendly school.

Our school is a modern facility located on Yawuru land in the coastal town of Broome, part of Western Australia's stunning Kimberley region. Opening in 2015 with 100 students, our school has grown steadily over the past 6 years, with 380 projected enrolments for 2021. Due to this growth, we are now in the exciting position of being able to appoint a Teacher – Music for the first time in our short history.

The successful applicant will be afforded a generous budget and tasked with setting up a brand new classroom music program from scratch. If successful, your teaching load will comprise twelve 60-minute lessons each week, delivered to our Year 1 to 6 classes, plus a senior choir or ensemble once a week.

With a positive and enthusiastic approach, you will engage students to learn and develop within the music field. With excellent interpersonal skills you will be willing to collaborate with school staff and members of the wider community. Whilst you’ll be chiefly responsible for the initial success of this program, the school leadership team will back you and support you each step of the way to achieve excellent results.

Although the role is initially set at 0.6FTE (three days a week), opportunities may exist to pick-up extra teaching time in other areas to increase your teaching load to four or five days a week. As a teacher in the Country Teaching Program, you will also be entitled to:

  • A country teaching allowance of $8,020 per annum (pro-rata for part time appointments)
  • Locality allowance of $3,469 per annum (pro-rata for part time appointments)
  • Subsidised GROH housing
  • Refunds and allowances for relocation costs
  • An annual travel concession for you and any dependents

You will join a team of staff who are committed to building positive relationships, with the motivation to pursue excellence. Our dedicated and professional teachers maintain an environment which supports each child every day to achieve their personal best. Staff employ evidence-based strategies within a defined whole-school approach to maximise the effect they have on student learning. In addition, we constantly aim to deliver the highest standards of pastoral care and support services in order to enable our students to thrive.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

  • Professional engagement.

Applications will be assessed against these domains. The business needs of the school may also be considered. It is therefore recommended that you consider all information contained in the advertisement and any other related information before applying for the vacancy.
