Exmouth District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated Visual Arts Teacher to join their friendly team.
To be suitable for this role you will be a passionate Visual Arts Teacher, dedicated to helping students reach their full academic potential. The successful applicant will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You will be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills. You will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice as well as provide educational opportunities which provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs. The development of positive, respectful relationships between staff and students is a high priority within the school, along with academic excellence.
The successful applicant must be able to inspire our students (Years 5 -12) to create art work to the best of their ability whilst providing many opportunities for them to share their success with others. As this is a ‘hands on active’ learning area, it is essential that applicants are highly organised with excellent relationship building skills and are prepared to share their own work with the students. Exmouth DHS is a proudly Independent Public School with close to 470 students from Kindergarten to year 12. Exmouth is a coastal community of situated in the remote North West of Western Australia. Located about 1250km north of Perth, 850km north of the large regional city of Geraldton and 550km south west of the Pilbara mining operations in Karratha, we are surrounded by Cape Range National Park and are the gateway to the unique Ningaloo Reef, recently listed as a World Heritage site. There is a permanent population of approximately 3,500 people which swells to thousands more during peak tourist periods. Due to the number of tourists visiting Exmouth the town has many amenities which would not normally be expected in a town of its size.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
