Appointment Pool
Northam Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Primary Teacher’s for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
We are looking for energetic teachers, both graduate and experienced, who are willing to work collaboratively as active members of a close knit team. Suitable applicants will prove to be passionate and collaborative educators, willing to create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
The suitable applicants will demonstrate a profound understanding of contemporary curriculum and pedagogy with an emphasis on explicit teaching techniques, particularly in the teaching of the Letters and Sounds, Spelling Mastery, Talk for Writing and Origo Numeracy programs. Experience with the integration of digital technologies into the learning program and formative evaluation techniques will be highly valued, as will expertise in curriculum differentiation. The suitable applicants must also have a sound knowledge and interest in the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework and the Positive Behaviour in Schools (PBS) program. We are seeking exemplary teachers with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills which underpin professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.
Northam PS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and currently have just under 300 students. Students come from the local town and from the outlying farms and rural properties.
The school fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment; we focus on building positive relationships with students, their parents and carers and with the wider community. The staff, comprising of newly graduated teachers through to teachers with many years of experience and our experienced and dedicated non-teaching staff, work together to develop individual potential through excellence in education. They have specialist teachers in science, music, languages and sport and a learning support co-ordinator.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
