This is a fifteen (15) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 4, 2020.
Girrawheen Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a motivated and dedicated Humanities and Social Science Teacher (HASS) to join their team.
The position requires the teaching of lower school HASS and Career and Enterprise Upper school with the ability to differentiate the curriculum for both lower and higher end student achievement. The ability to teach outside their major learning area would be of benefit.
The successful applicant will possess the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary HASS curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels, including multi-age groups. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, are also required. As the successful applicant, you will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. You will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and desirably have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
