Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.

The foundation staff of Baldivis South Primary School (planning name) will need to focus on the development of the whole child. Our aim, in partnership with families, is to create unique, lifelong learners who are resilient and confident to tackle challenges of an academic and personal nature. All school staff will support each individual child to thrive socially, emotionally and academically. Our common goal is to have the students at the centre of everything we do and every decision we make. We will provide a unified approach to student well-being, where all staff will take shared responsibility to ensure that our students are well cared for and valued. All staff will have a role in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Baldivis South PS will have an Education Support program commencing in 2022.

The Education Assistant – Mainstream will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers and digital technologies, and implement individual student or small group programs or demonstrations. It is imperative that the applicant can exhibit excellent communication skills with students and staff. The Education Assistant – Mainstream may be required to provide feedback on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in education. At our school you will support the general health and well-being of students.

Suitable applicants will be organised and able to use their initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources, for use in classes. They will assist with displays and with cleaning and safe storage of items after classes and activities. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher with the care and supervision of students in out-of-class activities and on school excursions.

As an Education Assistant – Mainstream you will have a passion for working with students and have highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills. Suitable applicants will be committed to achieving the best educational outcomes for our students. This role requires you to work as part of a dedicated team and provides you with the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community. You may be working across a range of classrooms therefore the ability to be flexible will be an advantage, especially as the school grows in size.

Baldivis South Primary School (Planning Name) is located in the growing suburb of Baldivis, surrounded by rapidly developing housing estates with many young families. It is predicted that the school will open, in 2021, with approximately 130 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, the majority being in early childhood. The school will consist of an administration block, a library resource centre which contains the staff room, an early childhood block, three learning blocks, one of which has an Art/Science room, a covered assembly area, canteen and a music room. There will also be a multi-purpose playing court, junior football oval and cricket practise nets which will provide a pleasant and inviting environment. Our teaching and learning environments will reflect a positive and innovative approach to maximising learning opportunities for students.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Sound oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals.
  • Sound interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Sound organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students.
  • Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.

Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.

Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
