This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2021.

Brentwood Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic – Physical Education Teacher to join their passionate and committed school community.

As a Physical Education Teacher at our school you will possess an excellent knowledge of the WA Health and Physical Education Curriculum. You will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills of students to advocate for their own and others well-being. You will encourage skills and strategies to build and manage relationships, as well as physical activity in a variety of contexts and settings.

You will be able to teach Physical Education and Sports to primary school students of all ages, as well as promote healthy, active lifestyles. Previous experience teaching Physical Education would be highly advantageous. Brentwood is an active member of the Melville District Interschool Sports Association (MDISSA). You will be required to plan, co-ordinate and run school-based sports carnivals and swimming carnivals, as well as contribute to a variety of interschool carnivals with neighbouring association schools. 

Brentwood is a safe, happy and positive school located within the City of Melville and approximately 12km from Perth CBD.  The school was opened in 1956 and caters for student in Kindergarten to Year 6 with a population of over 20 different languages other than English. The diversity is valued and celebrated at Brentwood.  We are seeking an individual who has sound organisation and coordination skills. You are expected to be able to contribute towards positive student outcomes, and make a difference within our school. We are seeking someone who is able to work well in a team, and build a positive rapport with both staff, students and families.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
