Appointment Pool
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Newman Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Arts – Performing Arts to join their team. We are looking for a teacher with excellent interpersonal skills who will provide high quality learning experiences for all students in Performing Arts. Early career teachers are encouraged to apply.
The suitable applicant will have a passion for secondary education, a positive attitude and a willingness to work collaboratively with a focus on high expectations of student progress and success. We are an AVID school, and you will have significant professional learning opportunities including access to Classroom Management Instructional Strategies. Newman SHS is currently involved in the Fogarty Edvance school improvement program. Through this program we have developed a clear Strategic Directions Document based on our data and evidenced based best practice.
At the moment the school does not have a specialist performing arts teacher and would like to grow the learning area at the school. This is a great opportunity for someone to begin this journey. You will need to be friendly, engaging and possess flexibility as someone who can teach across a number of learning areas. The capacity to teach Performing Arts to lower school students with the idea of growing performing arts to senior school in the future. A capacity to teach media, dance or English is also favourable. Professional Learning opportunities will be provided if required.

Working at Newman SHS attracts a range of subsidies and allowances including the Country Teaching Program (CTP) Allowance and a Locality Allowance. Furthermore, you will be able to apply for a waiver on indexation on HECS HELP and FEE Help, and if you work full time for 4 years in a 6 year period, from 2023 you can apply to have the HELP debt remitted for education qualification related tuition costs. .
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Eligibility
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;

Training
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
