Appointment Pool

Woodlands Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and hardworking Kindergarten to Year 6 Teachers (K-6) for appointment to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part time vacancies, which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
Woodlands PS is a K-6 Independent Public School (IPS) with a strong curriculum and evidence-based pedagogical culture and a tradition of excellence in teaching, learning and assessment processes through collaborative practices, peer observation and coaching. Suitable applicants will possess outstanding interpersonal skills; build highly effective working relationships with students, parents and staff; be able to work in a highly collaborative team environment; and have a continuous focus on self and school improvement.
Teachers at Woodlands PS are expected to have a strong commitment to, and understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, particularly in English, Mathematics and HaSS. Teachers engage in weekly planning meetings with curriculum leaders to refine and develop high quality teaching programs, incorporating Guided Reading; Letters and Sounds, effective lesson design; and the Departments Effective Reading and Writing models.

We are on a journey to embed the Positive Behaviour Support program. The school places great importance on developing positive environmental behaviour across our school community and developing global citizens for our future through an educative approach. Kagan cooperative learning structures are core components of our whole school practices, with staff supported to implement Kagan cooperative learning into teaching and learning programs. Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and Digital Technology are an integral part of the teaching and learning program. The school operates a Year 2 to Year 6 BYO iPad program with the SAMR model being utilised across the curriculum to enrich the student’s learning experience.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
