Appointment Pool

John Curtin College of the Arts are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.

The College anticipates that there will be one (1) permanent position available upon commencement of the pool. There will also be fixed term appointments available that will be determined upon commencement of the pool.

Suitable applicants for these positions will be expert, passionate teachers of English with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Applicants will need to demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum and have proven success working with very able students. Teachers with experience teaching Year 12 ATAR English and/or English Literature courses are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated understanding and/or experience teaching gifted and talented students is desirable.

The suitable applicants will support the implementation of the college’s Business Plan, be committed to whole college approaches and initiatives, and develop a team environment within the English Learning Area. Applying a strong evidence based approach to teaching, adopting inclusive practices, differentiating the curriculum, and building positive relationships with students, staff and the community are important components of the role. Suitable applicants need to be committed to developing curiosity, innovation and imagination in every person through inspiring minds and learning for life.

The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.
