Comet Bay College is seeking to appoint a dedicated Assistant Cleaner in Charge to join their large, friendly team.
As the Assistant Cleaner in Charge you will carry out internal cleaning duties, including the maintenance of carpets and hard floor surfaces, toilet cleaning, furniture and fittings, window cleaning, dusting, rubbish removal and other items of general cleaning.
Other responsibilities will include coordinating cleaning staff tasks, provide on the job induction training for new cleaning staff, conducting monthly cleaning inspections with the Manager Corporate Services and or Cleaner in Charge, and to open and lock the school, including the setting of the alarm system.
Comet Bay College is a large, modern state of the art educational facility catering for students in Year 7 to Year 12. The college is situated in Secret Harbour, a coastal community 64 kilometres from Perth, and draws students from its partner primary schools located in the Golden Bay, Secret Harbour and Singleton areas. Due to our popularity and rapid expansion of residential development around the college, the College is a local intake school. College facilities include specialist science laboratories, a lecture theatre, fitness centre, metal fabrication and engineering studios and a graphics/mechatronics studio. The College also has dedicated and Media and Information Technology Labs, a food technology fit out that will enable delivery of Certificate Courses and a high quality Performing Arts Theatre. These outstanding facilities combined with a broad range of teacher expertise ensure that all students entering the College are given access to a wide range of courses that are delivered to a very high standard.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

Ability to recognise and interpret Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment operating instructions, safety instructions and training guidelines.

Knowledge of and ability to use cleaning equipment, including polishers, vacuum cleaners and pressure cleaners.

Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience in the safe use and storage of cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals.

Demonstrated initiative and good organisational skills

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete the Department’s online training in manual tasks and hazardous substances within three months of commencement
- Complete Fundamentals of Cleaning training as soon as practicable
- Complete any other training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
