Hammond Park Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a vibrant, hardworking and motivated Japanese Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team. We are looking for a highly competent teacher who has an understanding of High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) and a detailed knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum.

The position requires a teacher who has excellent interpersonal skills and can foster positive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including students, staff and community members. We require a teacher who has the skills to collaborate across learning areas to create innovative learning opportunities for our students.

Hammond Park Secondary College will implement a school-wide Instructional and Coaching Framework addressing Explicit Instruction, through to an Inquiry model. Teachers will design and deliver lessons aligned to the Framework and receive instructional coaching and feedback, so we are seeking a highly reflective teacher with a growth mindset and desire for continuous improvement.

The college has identified Wellbeing as one of our priorities and this focus is at the centre of our strategic planning. The college day commences with Homeroom where teachers deliver a Social and Emotional Wellbeing program aligned to the PERMA principles and our policies and procedures are developed to reflect a proactive, wellbeing approach.

The successful candidate in the initial years may also be required to teach in their minor teaching area until the college grows and we can fully develop specialist areas. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to join our fabulous foundation staff and work collaboratively to establish the directions of the college.

About the school

Hammond Park SC is as an Independent Public School and is one of eight WA Public Private Partnership schools.  The school is built, financed and maintained by project company EduWest. While the partnership is a very different way of delivering education facilities in the State, the students’ education remains the responsibility of the Department of Education, and the Principal, teachers and staff are employed by the Department of Education as they are in all public schools.

Hammond Park SC in Hammond Park opened in 2020 as a local intake secondary school. Currently the school accommodates 175 Year 7 students with growth estimated to accommodate a total of 1450 Year 7 to 12 students by 2025

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position. 

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):

  • Professional knowledge;
  • Professional practice; and
  • Professional engagement.
