Appointment Pool
Alkimos Beach Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of organised and collaborative Teachers – K-6 for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year.
This is an exciting opportunity for dynamic teachers to become a staff member of this Independent Public School.
Suitable applicants will be highly motivated and committed to raising literacy and numeracy achievement, as well as social and emotional skills, through the effective use of whole-school approaches and explicit teaching. They will create an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment based on high expectations.
Suitable applicants will also use assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets and plan for differentiated learning opportunities for all students in their class. Teachers at Alkimos Beach PS integrate digital technologies, in their daily teaching, to support innovative, differentiated learning opportunities and promote higher order thinking. The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) and School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) Technologies Curriculum are integral to teaching across all learning areas at Alkimos Beach PS.
Our early year’s programs focus on intentional play based learning, with a particular focus on the development of early literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring strong foundations for future learning. Key characteristic/qualities that you are looking for in a suitable applicant:
Suitable applicants will demonstrate experience across a broad range of year levels and a strong desire to continuously expand their knowledge, skills and abilities. Suitable applicants will also demonstrate knowledge of the WA Curriculum, with a commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement on teaching practice.
Alkimos Beach PS is located approximately 45km from Perth, opened in 2017 and caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6. We are a school with strong values and are committed to developing a highly engaging and dynamic learning program for our students. We believe that each child has the right to be respected and has a responsibility to respect others. Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
