Main Roads is offering enthusiastic, committed and ambitious graduates who are interested in working in our Goldfields-Esperance region, a three-year regional graduate program with long-term career opportunities. This hands-on position based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder is available for individuals who have completed their Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering within the last two years.

We are looking for highly motivated recent civil engineering graduates who have a thirst to identify and help solve complex issues related to the construction and maintenance of road assets located on the road network. You are not afraid of being stuck in the nitty gritty of construction challenges. You will embrace the unexpected and take pride in making a real impact whilst putting your engineering skillset to use. Each task, activity or project will be different and at times will involve travel away from your base location in Kalgoorlie-Boulder, sometimes for short periods of up to two weeks depending upon the work roster.
Goldfields-Esperance Region specialises in contract delivery, you will gain exposure on small construction projects (intersection upgrades/road widening/passing lanes) to maintenance projects (reseal/pavement repair and rehabilitation) to even larger projects involving replacement and new road construction.
You want to make a real difference to the lives in the community, drawing on your stakeholder engagement skills and communication style to effectively engage consultants and contractors to deliver works collaborately in order to achieve a successful and safe outcome. You will form an integral part of a motivated team, led by the Regional Manager, and have your eyes set on living and working across our golden outback, the largest region in Western Australia.
Along with a training program to suit your role, you’ll learn on-the job, guided by your supervisor and mentors, plus there’s a network of support that will help you feel like a valued member of the community. The Extras.
If you need to relocate to the region suitable accommodation will be provided, at subsidised rental rates, along with coverage of relocation costs as per the Main Roads EBA.
In addition to your base salary and 9.5% superannuation, the following regional benefits are available to you, given the location of this position is the Kalgoorlie-Boulder office:
- Commuted Overtime Allowance of 13.5% per annum, if you agree to work an extra 3.45 hours per week on top of your standard 37.5 or 40 hour week
- District Allowance of $2,354 per annum
- After 12 months of service, you can access our annual leave travel concession (reimbursement of return airfares to Perth once per annum).
- Generous power subsidies paid fortnightly to assist with air conditioning, electric hot water or gas hot water bills
- A communications subsidy of up to $20 per month, to assist with your telecommunications bills and keep in touch with friends and family in other locations

For this role, you will have completed a Bachelor Degree of Civil Engineering, or undergraduate Master of Professional Engineering (Civil) within the last two (2) years.
