We currently have one (1) permanent full-time vacancy available for immediate filling.
This process may be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the department. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of six (6) months from approval of the initial recruitment decision.
Would you like the responsibility for providing high technical support to a marine fish hatchery by carrying out projects under the direction of a specialist? You should be regarded as a technical problem solver within the field of aquaculture. Reporting directly to the Aquaculture Systems Coordinator you will play a leading supporting role in the marine fish culture research and development operations at DPIRD’s Fremantle facility.
Within this role, your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and building hatchery equipment in collaboration with senior staff within the Aquaculture team.
- Undertaking essential maintenance of aquaculture equipment to ensure hatchery operations remain optimal.
- Assisting in all culture aspects of the hatchery operation as may be required from time to time. at a practice experience level.

Eligibility / Other Conditions
To be eligible for a permanent appointment to the Western Australian public sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia. To be eligible for a fixed term or a casual appointment you must have documentary evidence of your entitlement to live and work in Australia for the period of the contract and this is required as part of your application.
Diploma in a relevant discipline (or equivalent) or very extensive relevant experience.
A current and valid Western Australian "C" class (car) drivers’ license or equivalent is required (if not currently held must be acquired prior to commencement at applicant’s expense)
This position is located in Fremantle.
