About The Role:
This position is responsible for supporting the Deputy Director General to provide accurate, timely and consistent advice to the Director General and Minister, and co-ordinating the provision of information across the Building Management and Works and Strategic Projects business units. The position manages the office and a small team, and supports the Director, Strategic Issues to manage contentious issues, deliver complex projects and initiatives, and respond to requests from the media, Parliament and other key stakeholders.
About You:
Our ideal candidate will possess a natural leadership ability, a sound understanding of executive government, a strong work ethic and customer focus, and a passion to influence through building positive working relationships with internal and external clients, including senior public servants and Ministerial staff.
We are seeking an inspiring values-driven individual who can leverage the expertise of a diverse range of staff and stakeholders for a common purpose, keep calm in a high pressure environment, and provide balanced, well-considered and insightful advice to government on topical issues.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience working in a similar role, including a sound understanding of executive government and parliamentary protocols, as well as issues affecting the public sector. Experience working in a procurement environment and / or the building and construction industry is a distinct benefit, as is a knowledge and understanding of delivering government services in regional Western Australia.
