Lake Grace District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Teacher – English and Humanities and Social Sciences to join their collaborative and positive team.
The successful applicant will be a conscientious and dedicated Secondary Teacher with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning supported by technology. They will be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective about their teaching practice and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation. Applicants require a proven knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and demonstrated experience in delivering positive outcomes for students – whether on practicum or from past teaching experience. A capacity and willingness to lead the development and delivery of school programs and priorities in the area of English and HASS would be viewed favourably.
Successful applicants need to demonstrate the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant curriculum using a positive, student-focused approach, and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels, including multi-age/split year groups. Strong use of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a willingness to liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships, are essential. Suitable applicants will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. They will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and leadership, and have the proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
As a member of our school teaching team you will also be expected to implement effective, innovative and engaging learning programs. You will work collaboratively with other staff to apply whole school approaches for Curriculum delivery including consistent approaches in Literacy across the school. Experience and knowledge of Seven Steps to Writing Success and Talk 4 Writing is desirable but not essential with full training provided.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.
