This is a permanent full-time position commencing March 2020

The Strategic Policy and Governance Division want to recruit a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Senior Policy Analyst.

The Senior Policy Analyst will plan, undertake and review major strategic policy projects related to education to support State and National policy imperatives. The position will also provide strategic policy advice to the Minister, Corporate Executive and other agencies on these issues.

This position will also be responsible for developing and coordinating operational and high-level policies, guidelines and procedures in relation to strategic issues.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  1. Substantial experience in the development of policy frameworks and governance processes and extensive knowledge of current State and National education issues, trends, policies and systems.
  2. Highly developed research, analytical, conceptual and problem solving skills including the ability to identify and clarify patterns and trends, process improvements and provide innovative thinking in problem solving.
  3. Highly developed written communication skills including extensive experience in the preparation of Ministerials, briefings, policy and complex reports.
  4. Highly developed oral and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to undertake high level consultations and negotiations.
  5. Highly developed program and project management skills including project methodology, planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation.

  • obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
