Katanning Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Design and Technology - Automotive to join their friendly team.
The successful applicant will be a team player and have a focus on instilling in students an appreciation of the design process and developing their skills and pride in the use of tools and machines in bringing those designs to fruition using a variety of materials.
The successful applicant will have highly developed professional knowledge in the above curriculum areas, have strong teaching and classroom management skills and is able to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning. They will engage in professional learning and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, working as a member of a vibrant and enthusiastic school team. Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health and how that relates to the workshop environment with students is highly desirable.

This is a highly specialised role. Automotive skills are essential. In the first instance, only applicants with teaching qualifications will be considered. Where there are no suitable applicants with teaching qualifications, applicants without teaching qualifications may be considered. In this circumstance, a fixed term appointment as an untrained teacher for the 2020 school year will be offered.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
