Are you a passionate and talented secondary teacher who has demonstrated a high standard of teaching ability and a strong commitment for improving the educational outcomes of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Ocean Reef Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly skilled teacher to deliver specialist learning programs to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The Specialist Learning Program will provide students from Year 7 to 12, diagnosed with ASD (without intellectual disability) with targeted evidence-based programs aimed at increasing age-appropriate academic engagement, organisational skills, social thinking, peer relationships and self-regulation.
The successful applicant will be part of the secondary school staff and may, over time, move between the specific role within the Specialist Learning Program for students with ASD and mainstream class roles. In collaboration with the Specialist Learning Coordinator (Autism), teachers will provide innovative and engaging lessons for students and contribute to their sense of belonging and overall wellbeing. Teachers of this program will develop highly personalised learning plans to facilitate access to age-appropriate curriculum and will apply evidence-based practice and pedagogy to meet the needs of students. They will support the implementation of the school business plan and be committed to whole school approaches and initiatives.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
