The Art Gallery of Western Australia, founded in 1895, occupies a precinct of three heritage buildings on the south-eastern corner of the Perth Cultural Centre. The Gallery houses the State Art Collection, which includes one of the world’s finest collections of Indigenous art, the pre-eminent collection of Western Australian art and design as well as Australian and International art and design.

Job Description

The Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and innovative Learning Administrative Assistant to join the Audience Engagement team. The successful applicant will work closely with the Manager, Learning and Creativity Research to assist in administering AGWA’s learning program, particularly as it relates to school visits and other public programming for Children and Families.

Ideally the successful candidate will have strong administrative skills as well as experience in delivering arts learning programs in schools and/or community settings.

This is an excellent opportunity to join WA’s leading visual arts organisation and make a contribution to the development of arts learning in innovative and exciting ways.

Conditions

This is a part time (45 hours per fortnight), fixed term vacancy, for a period of 24 months, with a possibility of extension and/or permanency. There will also be a Pool running for a period of 18 months from the initial appointment. Applicants deemed suitable will be placed into a pool where appointments may be considered for similar vacancies for full-time, part-time, casual, fixed term or permanency.

A current (within 6 months) National Police Clearance Certificate and a Working With Children Clearance will be required prior to commencement of employment, as per the Department’s Police Record Screening Policy.

Work related requirements

  1. Advanced experience in an administrative position in an educational environment.
  2. High level of computing skills (knowledge and experience in using word processing and Excel essential – some experience of graphic design applications would be well-regarded).
  3. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
  4. Experience delivering arts learning programs in school and/or community settings.
