Lakelands Senior High School (SHS) are looking for enthusiastic and engaging Science Teacher to join their team.
Applicants should possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills that will be used to support the school’s mission statement, values and priorities across the school community. You will work effectively within a team and be able to demonstrate the capacity to improve your own performance through reflection. Knowledge of the Science curriculum area, ability to work within a team environment, sound classroom management skills and a willingness to be part of a supportive pastoral care system is highly valued.
Lakeland SHS is situated in the suburb of South Lake near the Cockburn Central development area. Lakeland SHS is a relatively small senior high school with a student population of approximately 640 students. This enables staff at the school to have a good understanding of the students and the local community.
The school has recently undertaken a process of developing a mission statement and redefining the school values as part of the new business planning cycle and we are focusing on making data informed choices to improve the school and learning outcomes for all students. Our mission, “To be a place of learning, where all members of our school community aspire to excel in a culture that nurtures and promotes engagement for future success” is the key driver for our decision making framework and all of our school process are built on how they support this statement.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
