Kiara College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Learning Support Coordinator to join our high performing Student Services team.
The successful applicant will assist with pastoral care and transition of students and liaise with parents and external agencies. The role requires the successful applicant to keep up to date with current research on best practice and respond to the needs of individual and small groups of students with evidence based interventions. The Teacher – Learning Support Coordinator will l liaise with our Executive Team to address learning needs of school and data informed practice for school wide implementation.
This role will also provide performance management for our Education Assistants.
The position includes Direct Instruction/Explicit Instruction programs for students with learning disabilities, teaching metacognitive strategies in addition to content, diagnostic testing to establish RA, MA and SA across the school and IEP development for whole school use and NCCD data collection.
The College is located on the western edge of the Swan Valley and has the unique resource of a school farm, which enhances the school's broad range of programs, inclusive of Specialist Agriculture. In addition, modelling, developing and implementing exemplary and innovating classroom practices are skills that are vital to this role.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and will be capable of creating high quality, effective teaching and learning experiences for students who require extra support across the curriculum. The desire to invest in developing positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues is a key focus for Kiara College staff.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience supporting students with learning difficulties or disability. They will work in conjunction with the Student Services Manager to set the direction for Learning support strategies across the school. The successful applicant will work as part of a team to case manage students at risk and provide strategies to help students achieve their full potential.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
