This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2020 

Do you possess excellent communication skills and are ready to take on new challenges?

Shelley Primary School (PS) is seeking a hardworking and enthusiastic School Officer to join their friendly team. The successful applicant will be required to work 0.6FTE over 4 days per week.

The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy multicultural school which is an integral part of the local community.

As the first point of contact you will use your communication and interpersonal skills to respond to queries from a range of stakeholders, as well as building and maintaining effective working relationships. The successful applicant will be required to work alongside the Manager Corporates Services in administering the financial resources of the school including receipting, invoice processing, reconciliation of purchase cards, procurement and leave and relief payment processing. Other specific duties will include maintaining online payment and resource management systems. The successful applicant will ideally have experience and working knowledge with the use of the School Information System (SIS), RM Finance, RM Billing, Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS) and Bookmark. The demanding role of School Officer also involves undertaking student-related activities, including providing information, advice and collecting documentation for enrolment of new students.

To be successful, it is highly desirable that you demonstrate organisational skills, attention to detail in delivering and prioritising tasks in a fast paced working environment together with highly developed interpersonal skills using your initiative.

Shelley PS offers the students a diverse range of programs. A range of technology is available for students to conduct their learning via different platforms such as interactive smartboards in every class room, Macbook laptops in the senior years and iPads in the early years. A school-wide Wi-Fi network allows students to pursue independent learning activities using these devices. Our Library complements the Information and Learning Technologies curriculum and our purpose-built Science and Music rooms provide students with the facilities to enhance great educational outcomes.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Experience in providing effective administrative support with the ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Experience in financial processes and procedures, including the handling of debtors, creditors, reconciliations, and/or preparing financial returns.
  • Ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
