Appointment Pool
Boyup Brook District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated, proactive Gardeners-Handypersons for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within 2020.
Please note that the role may be based at either the Middle School site or Primary site and will involve working at both sites.
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining and presenting our school grounds in a clean and tidy condition. The Gardener - Handyperson will work to provide gardening, grounds and facility management to ensure a safe, vibrant and clean school environment. You will maintain and present the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition, and provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management. Suitable applicants will perform minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other Gardener - Handyperson duties using safe work practices and in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines.
Good interpersonal skills are highly desirable, along with the ability to receive and carry out instruction as required. Suitable applicants will ideally also have an excellent working knowledge of gardening machinery, reticulation and handyman skills, as well as gardens, plants, lawns and turf management. You will be expected to have a high level of safety awareness and the ability to read Material Data Sheets.
Boyup Brook is situated in the South West of Western Australia approximately 270km from Perth.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process
