Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/TCH602696
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2020
Are you seeking a challenging, exciting and satisfying career?
Our library at Cyril Jackson is a unique learning environment. We cater for students who are compulsory age (16-17 years) to mature age who are returning to study. We also cater for students who are enrolled in our Intensive English Centre.
Our aim is to build on our well established practices to meet the needs of our diverse range of students in ensuring them success. For some part this may mean conducting small tutorial lessons on the use of the library for our IEC students, but on another level, we want a Resource Centre that has information which is readily available on-line and accessible to all students.
We are seeking a teacher who has the initiative and vision to develop our centre further. This will include knowledge and understanding of on-line learning platforms in addition to knowledge of current resources which will support effective career pathways. Management of systems as these pertain to the library and management of library support staff would also be central to the role.
The successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with an extremely diverse range of students. This role will require an innovative teacher who will work collaboratively with classroom teachers on creating online learning materials for the Senior Secondary curriculum.
As we move forward, we are looking to expand our capacity in the delivery of the curriculum through on-line learning, to cater for those students who may also have other commitments during school time. We are also exploring concepts such as ‘flipped classrooms’ through on-line platforms to engage students with their learning, prior to lessons. We are keen to maintain an on-line presence in these areas and others as we expand.
As a Senior Campus we are also developing our library as a resource centre for careers information to support students in navigating their way through the multitude of options which currently exist for them post school e.g. TAFE and training pathways; University pathways; and, employment pathways and skill development. Access to technology and appropriate resources will support students in achieving their post-school goals.
