Roleystone Community College is seeking to establish a pool of dynamic Secondary teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year in the English, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS). Placements can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year. At the time of advertising, the school has at least one permanent position to be filled from this pool.

As a school and as teachers we don’t give up on students – we constantly explore new ways to engage students who are not making progress, or who are making progress at a rate beyond that of their peers. Suitable applicants will have the ability to influence the progress of students within our Humanities extension program and depending on the experience of the successful applicant, leadership opportunities are available. Roleystone CC is a Kindergarten – Year 10 school of approximately 850 students and there is an expectation that teachers in the Secondary area of the school may teach in more than one learning area (English and HASS as an example).
Roleystone CC is looking for teachers that can work collegiately and collaboratively, but can also show a level of independence and initiative in the way they work. A clear understanding of the current version of the Western Australian Curriculum, along with demonstrated outstanding teaching and learning skills, knowledge and understandings are essential.
Suitable applicants will ideally be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of formative assessment and how this informs their teaching. It is highly desirable that successful applicants will demonstrate an approach to self-improvement and will be willing to engage in our classroom observations process to improve their own teaching.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
