This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2020.
Kojonup District High School is seeking a talented and resourceful English teacher to join our collaborative team.
The successful applicant will be a dynamic and passionate teacher of English and Drama with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. There is an expectation that all teachers actively collaborate as a member of a Professional Learning Community and engage in reflective practice, informed by classroom observations, student feedback surveys and close examination of student performance data.
Applicants need to demonstrate the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant school curriculum using a positive; students focused approach and have proven success working with students across a range of ability levels, including multi-aged groupings. A capacity and willingness to teach outside the English learning area within the Kindergarten - Year 10 setting would be viewed favourably, particularly within the context of Performing Arts.
As the successful applicant you will be relationship focused with a consistent and transparent classroom management approach. You will be enthusiastic, seek opportunities for innovation and have the proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
Kojonup is situated approximately 264 kilometres from Perth and 160 kilometres from Albany. The school caters for students in Kindergarten - Year 10, many of whom travel by bus from nearby farming properties. The town is well serviced with its own hospital, fire station, ambulance centre and supermarket. There are numerous sporting clubs and an active repertory club.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
