Geraldton Senior High School (GSHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher - Year Coordinator. The role of the Year Coordinator supports the work of the Student Services Manager and is a key member of the Student Services team. Your role will have a central focus on a specific cohort of students and you will be expected to take on a key role in creating a positive environment for that cohort whilst supporting transition, attendance and the behavioural and social/emotional development needs of your students.
We are seeking a passionate, innovative and committed professional who can provide leadership in the school and community by promoting the school vision, values and culture. This is a very “hands on” role where a high level of interpersonal skills and drive is necessary, along with an ability to establish and maintain internal and external networks.
The successful applicant will be a highly effective communicator who can architect positive relationships with students, staff and parents. The ultimate goal in working in partnership with others is to get the best outcomes for our students. It is expected you will have an understanding of a whole school Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach, and understand the importance of restorative practices to strengthen the school community. A strong case management approach with exceptional organisational skills, including the ability to manage your time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records and analyse data to inform interventions and future practice is an important part of your role.
The implementation of mental health and wellbeing programs form an important part of your work with all students along with organising school assemblies, activities such as reward days, information sessions and excursions. In working with behaviour, Restorative Practice is utilised to resolve conflict.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
