The successful applicant is expected to support the development and implementation of the school’s culture, vision, values and future direction. Teachers are expected to assist in developing and implementing school-wide practices to meet the needs of students, creating a love of learning and a culture of success. You will work collaboratively with school leaders, teachers and the wider community to develop a strong community culture. A commitment to environmental sustainability is highly desirable along with the ability to imbed these practices throughout the curriculum.
As the successful applicant you will value the whole child acknowledging the academic, social, emotional and physical pursuits are equally catered for and addressed. You will be expected to contribute to a positive learning environment with excellent teaching through continuous professional learning, self-reflection, engaging with current research, data analysis, caching and peer observation and feedback. A strong knowledge of the Western Australian Upper Primary Curriculum is also highly regarded.
This role requires a teacher that can differentiate the curriculum in a multi-age classroom through ‘best practice’ lesson design and innovative and flexible program delivery, while creating a culture that develops creative and critical thinking that promotes persistence and develops resourcefulness and innovation in learning.
Jarrahdale PS is located in the small semi-rural community of Jarrahdale, situated 50 kilometres south-east of Perth. The school is surrounded by natural bushland which enhances the peaceful, country atmosphere of the school. Being a semi-rural school, building community and belonging is important and staff are expected to build strong relationships with the school and extended community. The school has a strong and supportive team environment and passion for learning as well as a commitment to positive change. We are environment focused and have an interest in building community.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
