The Department of Communities brings together the services and functions of disability services, child protection and family support, housing, community initiatives and regional services reform.
The Department of Communities will relocate its head office to the new purpose-built Kings Square, Fremantle, that is set to accommodate 1500 State Government employees. This move is currently scheduled for April 2020. It is envisaged that Commercial Operations will remain in East Perth.
The Opportunity
The Senior Planner will be responsible for managing complex land projects, subdivision and built form requirements throughout Western Australia, as well as, providing planning input into strategic land acquisitions.
In this role you will be required to use your abilities to consult and negotiate with professional consultants, private sector manager/owners and senior Government personnel on a regular basis. Your considerable experience in town planning and project management, excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level analytical and problem-solving abilities is an essential requirement of the job.

There is currently one (1) Senior Planner position available for immediate filling for the next 12 months, with the possibility for a further 12 months.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (Permanent or fixed term, full-time or part-time) that arise within the next 12 months across the Department of Communities.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
You cannot be considered for this position unless you have a completed university degree in Town Planning.
All overseas qualifications must be assessed for Australian equivalency. Each qualification must be assessed individually, and the assessment must confirm the equivalent Australian qualification level (i.e. equivalent to a Bachelors or Masters degree). This assessment can be conducted by Overseas Qualification Unit, PIA, and the outcome evidence provided at the time of applying.
