Jurien Bay District High School (DHS) is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic English Teachers to make a valuable contribution to their friendly team.
We currently have two (2) permanent full-time positions commencing in Term 1, 2020.
To be successful for either of these roles, applicants will demonstrate the necessary knowledge, skills and understandings to teach English to Years 7 to 10 students, and in the senior school. You will also provide teaching programs in a minor area of study and as such, relevant qualifications and an enthusiasm to teach The Arts, or other Learning Area, will be considered highly desirable.
Teachers will be expected to use the iSTAR lesson framework as a model for connected practice and consistency between classrooms and will plan and teach using Kagan Cooperative Learning Structures to assist with the acquisition of skills and concepts, while promoting engagement and positive relationships between learners.
Suitable applicants will be able to work as part of a team, focussed on developing engaging and relevant learning experiences and building positive relationships with colleagues and learners. With effective interpersonal skills you will work closely with our school community to instil our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Commitment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
