Appointment Pool
Melville Senior High School (MSHS) are seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and dynamic Science teachers, capable of teaching Chemistry and/or Physics, for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies commencing in the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
We currently have three (3) vacancies to appoint to for Term 1, 2020 consisting of both permanent and fixed term vacancies.
Suitable applicants will not only be capable of teaching Chemistry and/or Physics, but also lower school Science while working collaboratively with the Science department to deliver high quality teaching and engaging course programs that maximise student learning and achievement. We are looking for highly committed, adaptable and collaborative individuals who can work effectively as part of a team and who share our vision for continuous improvement in teaching, learning and student performance.
Successful applicants will work in collaboration with the Head of Learning Area to lead ongoing improvements in pedagogy, curriculum and programming across Years 7 to 12 and to support the Science learning area to achieve set targets in the School Business Plan.
Suitable applicants will have the required knowledge and skills to; differentiate their teaching and apply a broad range of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of their students. You will be ‘relationships focused’ and committed to building a positive, inclusive and engaging classroom learning environment that promotes in student’s a genuine passion for Science and successful achievement outcomes. Successful applicants will be ready to join a dynamic Science team who actively participate in professional learning opportunities and continually reflect on their classroom practice to sustain a culture of high-quality teaching and ongoing improvement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
