Atwell Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of early childhood teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2020.
Suitable applicants should be motivated, practical, hard-working, innovative and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. They will need to pursue excellence in classroom teaching; and provide encouragement and support to their colleagues. Applicants will successfully demonstrate their contributions in a team focussed environment. They will work with others to foster and encourage innovation; and make student academic achievement the core of their work. A positive attitude and an appetite for challenge are highly desirable qualities for applicants to possess.
Atwell PS opened in 1998 and received Independent Public School status in 2012. The school is a Level 6 school. The school accommodates 800 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. There are four teaching blocks, two purpose built early childhood buildings, a library, staffroom, undercover area and a multi-purpose hall. The school environment and facilities are well maintained to ensure they cater for the needs of our students through ample play areas and well maintained grounds.
The staff at Atwell PS are passionate, enthusiastic and strive to ensure our school is committed to ensuring that every child is given the chance to become a successful life-long learner. The teachers and support staff have a wide range of experience and are dedicated to providing the best possible learning opportunities. The School Board plays an active role in establishing and maintaining clear directions for the school and works in partnership with the wider community. The school is currently implementing the Western Australian Curriculum.
Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
