Southern River College is seeking to appoint a highly-motivated and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join our skilled team of staff.
The successful applicant will be a team player and have a focus on instilling in Year 7 to 12 students an appreciation of engineering principles and systems while developing their skills in the use of tools and machines to bring designs to fruition using a variety of materials. The successful applicant will have highly developed professional and practical knowledge in areas of electronics, robotics, woodwork and metalwork. They must have strong teaching and classroom management skills, and be able to develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning. The ideal applicant will have industry liaison and/or secondary transitions experience. He or she will be able to support students seeking VET pathways in their pursuit courses or traineeships in construction, engineering or related fields.
The successful applicant will engage in relevant professional learning and demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, working as a member of a vibrant and enthusiastic school team. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety and how that relates to the workshop environment with students is highly desirable, as is a current Cert IV in Training and Assessment or a willingness to obtain one.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
