Are you a passionate, dedicated and professional Health & Physical Education teacher looking for a rewarding career to teach in one of Western Australia’s top performing public schools?
Willetton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Health & Physical Education teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during term 4 of 2019 and 2020 school year. Placements can be made from the pool at any time during this time.
We require teachers who have proven experience in teaching in this learning area, are relationship focused and able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills while working collaboratively in a team environment.
Suitable applicants will be joining a progressive and enthusiastic team of teachers who are engaged in implementing a whole school approach to the educational programs offered. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a willingness to lead curriculum development and teaching pedagogy to meet the needs of students from Years 7 to 12. Applicants with the demonstrable knowledge and practice to teach Senior and Lower School programs and/or hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, First Aid, bus and water qualifications are encouraged to apply.
Willetton SHS has a student population in excess of 2400 and the school is inclusive and comprehensive providing courses for Years 7 to 12. The school successfully caters for the academic, social and emotional development of students with diverse educational needs. There are approximately 200 teaching staff and 100 support staff on campus. Willetton staff recognise that students are individuals with different histories, interests, abilities and aptitudes. The school is committed to the intellectual, creative and social development of all students by the provision of stimulating and relevant programs and orderly teaching and classroom practices.
Willetton SHS achieves outstanding results in many areas and some of these are national testing and WACE. The Health & Physical Education learning area is no exception conducting rigorous data analysis for improvement in student performance and engaging students in a challenging and relevant curriculum. In addition, it has a strong extra-curricular program which teachers will be asked to align to.
Within the HPE Learning Area a number of courses are delivered to meet student needs and interests. These include:
- Health Studies, General and ATAR
- Physical Education Studies, General and ATAR
- Outdoor Education, Certificate II
- Sport and Recreation, Certificate II and III
- Fitness, Certificate III
- Specialist Basketball
- Yr 7 – 10 Health and Physical Education
As a highly effective educator you will need to possess an excellent understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum, assessment and reporting requirements in Lower School and current Senior School courses. This knowledge, combined with pedagogical skills should enable the development of programs differentiated for the specific learning needs of all students across the full range of abilities.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
