Are you a high calibre Education Assistant who would enjoy the challenges and opportunities in the passion of assisting teachers to help students reach their full potential?
Deanmore Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Education Assistants – Mainstream for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2019 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2020. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2019 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2020.
As Education Assistant – Mainstream, you will assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources, and assisting the teacher with the clean and safe use and storage of classroom items. You will be responsible for assisting the teacher with the care and supervision of students in out-of-class activities and with the general care and wellbeing of students, including attending to students with minor illnesses and/or injuries.
Suitable applicants will have a high level of interpersonal skills enabling you to work collaboratively with staff members to meet the needs of students. Ideally, you will possess the knowledge, experience and ability to support student growth, both academically and socially, within the classroom setting. Suitable applicants with the knowledge of effective strategies to support students in Early Childhood, combined with the knowledge and experience with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and National Quality Standard (NQS) will be highly regarded.
As a suitable applicant, you will be supporting the delivery of student-focused learning programs, and assist students in developing confidence and a sense of wellbeing. You will have a passion for working with students and have highly developed organisational and interpersonal skills.

- Sound organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective educational programs to students.
- Ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
Approved equivalent qualifications are published by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority .
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
