Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking to establish a pool of highly motivated and proactive Science Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2020 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2020 school year.
We are looking for Science Teachers that wish to join our team in this exciting and dynamic changing environment as we continue to grow as a College community. Suitable applicants will be committed to excellence in teaching and learning and will work collaboratively within the Science Learning Area.
Suitable applicants will have a passion for secondary education and the desire to impart their skills and knowledge as a member of our Science team in the ongoing development of our new secondary school. The successful teacher will need to be self-motivated, prepared to embrace new and demanding challenges and work proactively towards the creation of a successful comprehensive secondary school which serves the needs and aspirations of its community. They will be involved in the further development of our Lower and Senior School Programs and having a demonstrated ability to effectively teach Physical Sciences (Physics and/or Chemistry) and/or Biological Sciences (Biology and/or Human Biology) at this level is advantageous. The ability to differentiate curriculum and implement innovative approaches to improve outcomes for both high and low achieving students is a key element to this position, as well as a commitment to adopt whole school focus teaching and learning strategies into the planning and delivery of lessons. With our STEM focus growing across the college a willingness to engage in the development of STEM and the profile of Science across the college is desirable.
Byford SC is an Independent Public School located on Abernethy Road in Byford approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities. Byford SC has become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities. Byford SC's motto, ‘Aspire to Excellence’ clearly articulates our vision of being the secondary school of choice for the local community which provides a comprehensive suite of subjects from Year 7 through 12.
Byford SC has an established BYOD (ipads) program and a strong focus on ICT and STEM. The successful applicant will be required to embrace 21 st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy.
The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia (UWA). This program, titled Aspire, provides students at Byford SC with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience as well as College based planned enrichment and extension opportunities across the Humanities, English, Mathematics and Science curriculum areas. This partnership with UWA also provides our teaching staff with access to professional learning opportunities and exposure to the latest research in the field of education as well as curriculum content and pedagogy across our learning areas. Being able to demonstrate an ability to implement innovative and engaging programs in Aspire Science is a key element to this position and would be advantageous.
A prospective staff information session and tour will be held at the College on Wednesday 21 st August from 4:30-5:30pm. Members of the school leadership team will provide information about teaching at and being a part of Byford Secondary College. TRAINING
