This position is offered as a 12 month contract/secondment opportunity with the possibility of extension. This position is temporarily funded for a finite period.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE
The key objective of the WA Police Force Body Armour Project is to improve officer safety through the procurement and distribution of a fit for purpose body armour solution. Subject to funding and the award of a contract, the WA Police Force will begin the state-wide fitting and roll out of personal issue body armour systems to all operationally deployable Police Officers.
THE PERSON
The Body Armour Project is seeking suitable applicants to fill roles that will be critical in the implementation of a high priority project. The successful applicant will be required to possess the following essential skills and experience.
- Demonstrated experience in project management methodology.
- Experience in procurement IT systems.
- Experience in contract management.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Experience, knowledge and understanding of body armour equipment and storage requirements.
- An understanding of WA Police Force organisational and geographical structure
POSITION OBJECTIVE
In general terms, this role manages the project team to investigate, develop and implement complex projects, or components of a larger higher profile project, to meet client needs and contribute to the achievement of Branch/Portfolio/Agency objectives and strategic business plans.

The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.
Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.
OTHER CONDITIONS
Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the division. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.
Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for this position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to this position may be the responsibility of the successful applicant.
