Byford Secondary College (SC) is establishing a pool of outstanding teachers of Technologies for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2019 and 2020. Placements can be made from the pool for commencement at any time within the 2019 and 2020 school year.
Suitable applicants for this position will be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. They will demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to develop and implement an engaging and relevant secondary school Technologies curriculum across Years 7-12. Ideally, applicants will have a strong interest in developing STEM capabilities and content in lower school courses.
Suitable applicants will engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice to create an environment conducive to learning and provide purposeful and relevant experiences that cater for different student learning needs. Applicants should also have a sound understanding of the Western Australian curriculum, with a focus on assessment and the use of ICT.
Byford (SC) is an Independent Public School located approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities, with our current cohort of 1200 Year 7-12 students, looking to grow to approximately 1350 students in Years 7-12 in 2019. Byford SC has also become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities when in 2017 our inclusion facilities opened.
Byford Secondary College has an established BYOD (iPads) program and a strong focus on ICT and STEM. The successful applicant will be required to embrace 21st century learning practices and participate in leading innovation and change to pedagogy. The College offers an academic extension program for students by selection, in partnership with the University of Western Australia. This ‘Aspire’ program provides these students with access to the university's staff and facilities to enhance their learning experience. Teachers with a demonstrated ability to effectively differentiate instruction to improve student outcomes and challenge students to achieve at the highest level would be highly regarded.
The College invites any interested applicants to attend a Presentation and College Tour for prospective staff on Wednesday August 21 from 4:30 to 5:30. Members of the School Leadership Team will provide an information Session on teaching at the College.
