Statewide Services Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Library Technician - Resource Centre as part of the Literacy and Numeracy branch.
The successful applicant will administer library systems which ensure library records are up-to-date and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD) resources are maintained and processed to be accessible and available to teaching staff and schools across the State at all times. In this role you will support the operations of the Statewide Services Resource Centre, makes recommendations for new library resources, and provides advice to schools regarding the selection of resources that best suit the learning needs of EALD students.
The services and support delivered through the Literacy and Numeracy Branch are integrated with the other branches and functions of Statewide Services to support successful outcomes for all students. This is achieved through a focus on better integration of services to schools, students and families; supporting teachers to deliver a more personalised approach for each child’s learning; and creating expanded opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal and social competencies they will need to participate in future workforce and society.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our branch for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Knowledge of and experience in operating library and information systems, including computerised applications for managing library records, budget and related information.
- Sound verbal and written communication skills including application of customer service principles and practices and an understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Well-developed keyboard and computer skills, including a working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Sound planning and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
- Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
