Yanchep Beach Primary School (YBPS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and hardworking Aboriginal Languages Teacher to join our friendly team.
Specialist programs at YBPS are integral to the school's philosophy for assisting the development of the 'whole child'. The aboriginal languages program is also a key component of the school’s Cultural goals and consequently the successful applicant will be willing to provide strategic direction for the whole school's benefit. YBPS is a collaborative teaching environment characterised by instructional growth practices for teachers to continue to self-assess and high relational trust. Professional growth is supported through a team approach to planning and a significant investment in teacher knowledge and skills. Specialist program staff are provided with access to instructional professional learning which they are expected to utilise in their roles as required.
The successful applicant will be fluent in an aboriginal dialect, preferably Noongar which is local to YBPS and be able to translate to Australian Standard English. They will ideally have knowledge of the Talk for Writing and Letters and Sounds programs to ensure their instructional delivery is consistent with classrooms and be able to teach from a phonics base. Applicants must have demonstrated classroom management practices, preferably some training in CMS and have a willingness to integrate ICT into their practice
To be suitable for this role you will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, knowledge on curriculum and assessment processes, high quality teaching strategies including cooperative learning and strong written and oral communication skills. The successful applicant will be able to promote the language as a valuable part of a well-rounded education and collaborate with other staff members to ensure a consistent approach to whole school strategies.
Yanchep Beach PS is an Independent Public School located within a new coastal estate 60 kilometres north of Perth. The school opened in January 2014 with 319 students and has grown rapidly to a total enrolment of 787 students in August 2019.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
