Eaton Community College (ECC) is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and skilled Health and Physical Education teacher to join their team.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Candidates will exhibit professional knowledge, understanding and experience of the Year 7-10 West Australian Health and Physical Education Curriculum and the Year 11 and 12 ATAR and General Health and Physical Education courses. The successful applicant needs to demonstrate an ability to teach across a range of contexts/sports in lower school. Experience in teaching specialist sports programs in the context of netball, basketball and/or AFL is highly desirable. A Certificate IV in Assessment and Training, with the ability to deliver a Certificate in Sport and Recreation or Sports Coaching, would be advantageous. You will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students within an organised and supportive team.
To be successful, you will be student and relationship focused teacher who is highly motivated, innovative and able to work effectively in a team environment, as well as demonstrating an engaging and energetic teaching style. You will be able to reflect and assess the effectiveness of teaching practices using a variety of methods suited to the learning environment and the College. The expectations are about promoting an environment of active and positive learning, and providing educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve success. An ability and qualifications to teach across other learning areas would be advantageous.
The College is a medium-sized school catering for approximately 580 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is an Independent Public School. We offer a wide range of courses from VET, General and ATAR subjects. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate instructional classroom management strategies for effective classroom behaviours, which facilitate learning. This focus on Social and Emotional development is crucial to the success of the delivery of the curriculum. The teaching expectation is that every teacher is delivering explicit teaching strategies, utilising formative assessment and data analysis to provide quality and effective teaching practices that target students’ needs. This year we have embraced Professional Learning Communities focusing on two major areas: Quality Teaching and Social & Emotional Learning. These communities are a significant part of our whole school development and on-going improvements, engaging all staff in the process. We are highly supported by an internal Specialist Literacy Teacher and support personnel, with a current focus on Reading, and a proactive PBS team.
In addition, we have an Education Department endorsed Specialist Learning Program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program is embedded within the learning environment and we demonstrate inclusive practices. Our educators access our highly skilled specialist personnel, who work with our mainstream educators towards differentiating and prioritising the strengths of individual students and their needs.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

TRAINING
