Nollamara Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a competent and experienced teacher to work across the school and Intensive English Centre (IEC). The successful applicant needs to demonstrate knowledge and skills in the area of English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) education and a comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
Nollamara PS is an Independent Public School that caters for over 280 students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The school also has an IEC with humanitarian entrant (refugee) and migrant students enrolled in the program for one-two years. The school has an extremely diverse student population and supporting students both academically and socially and emotionally is a priority.
The successful applicant will have the following abilities:
- Experience or qualifications in the area of EAL/D education;
- An interpersonal skill-set that enables you to build strong and valuable relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community;
- A comprehensive understanding to implement the Western Australian Curriculum, using rich data sources to inform effective teaching and learning programs;
- The ability to scaffold lessons to provide differentiated teaching to cater for a class with mixed-ability students;
- Proactive behaviour-shaping strategies that support student engagement to enable positive student outcomes in and out of the classroom;
- Experience in at least one of the whole-school approaches of Sounds Write or MultiLit, Words their Way;
- A commitment to ongoing professional growth by embracing new, evidence-informed teaching and learning practices that lead to teacher improvement and better student outcomes; and
- An interest and commitment in being part of the Fogarty Edvance program over the next three years.
Nollamara Primary School is currently undergoing significant changes to support student’s pastoral care and academic performance. Our staff are committed to building positive relationships and support students to manage their behaviour in calm and caring ways. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
