Byford Secondary College (SC) is seeking a Manager - Education Support who will be responsible for the College's Education Support Program.

The Manager - Education Support will work closely with the Principal, Associate Principal and members of the Senior Leadership team to develop and promote an inclusive learning culture with the objective of improving educational outcomes for students in the College's Education Support program.
Byford SC is a new school which caters for students across the full spectrum of disabilities from severe and profound in specialist facilities, to students with mild disabilities taught within mainstream classrooms. The College is a new facility in the rapidly expanding locality of Byford. The state-of-the-art buildings provide a vibrant and exciting learning precinct. The College prides itself on being able to give individualised care and attention to help each student reach their potential; developing their self-confidence, independence, knowledge and skills to take advantage of increasing opportunities beyond school. The Manager - Education Support will possess the skills to be a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic leader, capable and confident in leading the development of individualised plans, curriculum, assessment and reporting processes. Sound behaviour management skills and knowledge of promoting positive behaviour supports is required. The successful applicant will inspire passion for learning in others as well as providing support for staff innovation and development in the area of Education Support. This role encompasses the provision of support for students, parents, education assistants and teachers and requires a high level of organisation and interpersonal skills. In addition to supporting the development of individualised curriculum and delivery, the role includes staffing, class timetabling, management of education assistants and liaison with external agencies. Further to demonstrated leadership within an Education Support context, knowledge of ASDAN, Vocational Education and Training, Preliminary Courses and use of the SEN Reporting to Parents is essential, as well as experience in supporting work skills, transitions, travel training and Workplace Learning programs.
The Program Coordinator is required to lead the development and management of the College’s hydrotherapy pool – this includes the liaison with therapists/ agencies and the development of policies and procedures to support delivery of hydrotherapy programs
Byford SC is an Independent Public School located on Abernethy Road in Byford approximately 30 kilometres from the Perth CBD. The College opened in 2014 and currently has a cohort of over 1400 Year 7 to 12 students. Our College provides for the secondary education needs of students from Byford and the surrounding communities. Byford SC has become a focal point for secondary education provision for students with disabilities with our inclusion facilities opening this year. Byford SC's motto, Aspire to Excellence, clearly articulates our vision of being the secondary school of choice for the local community which provides a comprehensive suite of subjects from Year 7 through 12.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
