Applecross Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated School Officer for our front office.
As the first point of contact for the school, you will be expected to provide a welcoming presence to all who visit the school office.
The successful applicant with be well organised, adaptable and achieve set goals in a timely manner. Strong communications skills will assist in providing accurate advice and support to parents, students, staff and visitors.
This role will involve meeting and greeting visitors at reception, answering the telephone, responding to routine enquires and requests for information, accurate word processing and data entry. Experience with Integris software would be advantageous but not essential and prior experience in a school office is not essential.
Applecross SHS is situated approximately 8 kilometres south of the city of Perth, embraces a tradition of excellence and maintains a reputation for high academic, sporting and cultural achievements for secondary students in Years 7 to 12. The school offers programs in Visual Arts (Gifted and Talented) and elite Tennis (Specialist Program) plus Academic Extension programs. The Academic Extension Program provides special classes for students who have been selected on the basis of their performance. Students in the Program are offered a wide range of rich learning experiences and are required to complete more in-depth studies to develop high level skills and competencies to become independent learners.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- experience in providing general office administrative support with ability to organise and prioritise tasks effectively.
- ability to use computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- good verbal and written communication skills, including application of customer service principles and practices.
- good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
