Harrisdale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a teacher of Science with the experience, dedication and drive to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning.
An appointment to Harrisdale SHS presents a tremendously exciting opportunity to join the staff of a new high school committed to building a culture of high performance and high care for all students. The successful applicant for this position will be an expert, passionate teacher of Science with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning. Harrisdale SHS opened in 2017 at Year 7 level and is growing one year group at a time. The successful applicant will therefore demonstrate the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school Science curriculum from the early and middle adolescent phases of learning through to senior secondary courses. Importantly, they will be enthusiastic adopters of a school wide pedagogy based on direct, explicit instruction who are keen to work collaboratively with superordinates and colleagues across the learning areas.
Harrisdale SHS offers a wonderful opportunity for local students to access a high-quality secondary education close to home. Currently, the school has an enrolment of around 880 students in Years 7, 8 and 9. Thereafter, another year group will enrol annually until 2022, when the 'Year 7 Class of 2017' graduate as Year 12 students.
Harrisdale is a rapidly growing suburb located approximately 28 kilometres south of the Perth CBD. The school is located on Laverton Crescent, adjacent to the City of Armadale's new playing fields and sports pavilion and Harrisdale Primary School.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.
