Baldivis Secondary College is seeking to appoint two (2) dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic education support teachers to deliver specialist learning programs to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the College’s new Specialist Learning Program – Autism. The successful applicants will possess excellent interpersonal skills and an unwavering commitment to enhancing the ‘school experience’ for those students with a diagnosis of ASD who have the potential to achieve academic success in mainstream schooling and beyond.
Under the leadership of the Program Coordinator (Autism), the successful applicants will work collaboratively to develop and implement a range of educational experiences which are innovative and engaging. They will apply evidence-based individualised education methodologies in their teaching to not only provide high quality educational experiences, but facilitate the development of the organisational, social thinking and self-regulation skills of the students in the program.
The successful applicant will demonstrate high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration within the college community. As a member of the Baldivis Secondary College family, the successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to their own professional growth and improvement. Not only will they teach a minimum of 0.2 FTE in their area of expertise, they will have an integral role in raising awareness and understanding of autism across the wider College community, as well as supporting their colleagues to build their capacity to work effectively with students with special needs.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
