Gnowangerup District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated, innovative and enthusiastic Teacher of Humanities and Social Sciences and Art to join their team.
At Gnowangerup DHS there is a strong emphasis on creating a positive culture, providing quality teaching and learning programs, the appointment of committed and professional staff and fostering an engaging, supportive learning environment where students can achieve their full potential.
The school promotes the use of effective classroom management pedagogy for behaviour management, including preventative measures such as low-key responses and scaffolding of positive behaviour as part of everyday practice. Gnowangerup DHS teachers embrace whole school practices including STEAM technology, and age appropriate classroom instruction in each of the learning areas.
Situated in the town of Gnowangerup 350ks south east of Perth, the school sits near the Stirling Ranges. Gnowangerup is the centre for the farms in the district and more recently, the site of a number of industries. The school caters for students from Kindergarten through to Year 10, including the Early Childhood Centre for Kindergarten and Pre-primary children. Other facilities at the school include; a library resource centre, computer laboratory, art and music rooms, a green oval, basketball courts and an undercover area.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
