An outstanding individual is sought to lead Western Australia’s premier human rights agency in fulfilling the statutory functions under the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 to enable access to effective, independent investigation and conciliation in the resolution of discrimination matters for all Western Australians.
As Commissioner for Equal Opportunity you will lead and manage a talented and dedicated team to eliminate, so far as possible, discrimination and instil an understanding and acceptance of equality as a fundamental human right in our community through education, advocacy and monitoring. You will review legislation, policies and practices and ensure compliance with relevant legislation for the benefit of all Western Australians at all times.
As an experienced organisational leader you will successfully navigate a complex social environment with shifting expectations to achieve the purpose of the Commission and create a dynamic outcomes focussed agency.
The successful candidate will provide high level advice to Government in relation to equal opportunity and the elimination of discrimination. You will establish and maintain whole of government and community wide working relationships to support strategic outcomes and excellence in service delivery. Excellent communication skills, a demonstrated record of outstanding leadership and achievement and exemplary personal integrity are also essential for success in this position.
